| Milestone report and broke stall! | 14 May 2004 19:46 GMT | 22 |
I used all the data I logged recently to calculate what appears to be my body's metabolic rate (10.8 calories per lb per day). Since I want to lose at least 1 kg (2.2 lb) per week, (to start - I realize this must slow down as I get closer to goal), I figured I must eat an average of ...

OK, world ... I have made the commitment to lose all of my extra poundage by the end of the year (or earlier, which would be highly preferable to me), through calorie restriction and exercise. I'm using fitday for tracking all of this.

Hi all -- More questions on diet and health. This time, exercise. I know you cannot spot reduce; that's been proven. However, I'm wondering if there are any good exercises that seem to slim the arms a bit? Mine aren't exactly big, they just

| New garlic discovery | 14 May 2004 16:51 GMT | 8 |
Minced garlic! Why bother with garlic cloves when the minced garlic is so cheap ($5.00 for 2 lbs)? For me, any meal that takes more than 10 minutes of prep time is out. Minced garlic saves time. Tonight I'm adding 2 tablespoons of it to my famous herring stew. Ummmmmmm.

| Update on new eating plan | 13 May 2004 15:38 GMT | 1 |
To be honest, I am afraid to get on the scale because I got so discouraged before when I was trying so hard but not losing. However, I must be losing because people are telling me I look like I am! And my clothes are looser. Yeah! I think the difference in this plan and my prior ...

Beverly, I'm curious how you are doing with your new bike? And in particular, do you notice a speed increase with the street bike compared to your hybrid bikes on the street? I've always been very curious as I strongly believe that my hybrid (more mountain) I believe it has a ...

| Weight watchers points = about how many calories? | 12 May 2004 21:41 GMT | 5 |
I ate at Red Lobster tonight. It was a special end-of-semester dinner with a good friend but I tried to be "good". I had the broiled seaman's platter, (stuffed flounder, scallops and shrimp) with a small salad and a pitifully small amout of squash, carrot and brocoli as the side ...

Okay, A few years ago I lost 30 lbs in a very short amount of time. I think I had been eating so much junk food and "bad" stuff over the years the weight just flew off without a heck of a lot of effort. Unknowingly I think I cut carbs by

| Ayn Rand on hunger | 12 May 2004 14:29 GMT | 1 |
This morning I was a bit hungry while waiting for lunch, and thought of Susan's interesting post from the other day in which she pointed out that we should get over being afraid of a bit of hunger -- that we know the next meal is coming. This in turn made me think of something
