CHICAGO, Illinois (AP) -- U.S. life expectancy will fall dramatically in
coming years because of obesity, a startling shift in a long-running trend
toward longer lives, researchers contend in a report published Thursday.
By their calculations -- disputed by skeptics as shaky and ...

Weird morning scale fluctuations17 Mar 2005 01:30 GMT12
I weigh myself at the same time everyday, and record a "number" weekly
(Wednesdays). Today it was acting very screwy-- first it said 114.4,
then 114, then 113.2, then 113.6, all in the span of 5 minutes or so
(all I wanted to do was double check the reading, but then it kept

The best thing about ASD for me is reading people's personal stories. It is
a joy to share in other people's successes. It is an opportunity to
empathize and learn from their failures. And it is a comfort to know that
our struggles are a normal part of being human.

Chow down!16 Mar 2005 11:00 GMT1
It's nice to be eating up again. I'm eating six times a day with protein in
every meal - chicken breast, crumbed fish, eggs, baked beans, some cheese,
some peanut butter, and the protein drink myoplex. Myoplex is incredible -
chocolately and thick when refridgerated, it reminds ...
Where does lost weight go?16 Mar 2005 09:44 GMT10
People on diets often claim they lost some weight, and some actually
do.  My question is WHERE DOES THIS LOST WEIGHT GO?
I know it dont just vanish into the air.  So, where does it go?
Does anyone know?  Basing this on science, nothing just disappears.
Most absurd nutrition label ever!16 Mar 2005 04:37 GMT32
This food is actually quite tasty, but the label is the most absurd
misstatement ever made. 2g of protein, no fat and no carbs. Yeah
right. It is made of pureed eggplants, peppers and garlic, and (I
suppose) some vegetable oil.
Psychology of dieting!?16 Mar 2005 00:14 GMT3
Hey everyone, hope you're all well. I'm a third year psychology student at
Nottingham and I'm looking at the psychological effects of different diets.
I desperately need participants to fill in a questionnaire, it'l only take
you 5mins max and you i think you might even find it ...

Anyone have any opinions of Taking Off Pounds Sensibly?
I'm a newly elected co-leader of a group, and I'm always looking for
ways to make the group better.
Be honest.
Body fat % "Ponderal" vs Weight Waist15 Mar 2005 20:46 GMT10
I just went to a site that calculated my body fat, and one method
(Ponderal Index) had my body fat at three times the other (waist

What gives? Anyone aware of these methods?
Food & Exercise -- 3/13/2004 (yesterday)15 Mar 2005 18:40 GMT9
Went to the gym with DH in the late morning, then out to an Indian
buffet, then to my wine group in the evening.  Ate far too much :-).
Seriously, I'd decided to allow myself a splurge, as I'd eaten
modestly for several days and my weight is at the low end of my range,

humaneness all in one place!
I need to lose at least 40 pounds for my brother's wedding in July. I'd like

Just couldn't do it.15 Mar 2005 17:11 GMT16
Looking for support here.
The morning workout started out well enough -- I walked a mile, then started
doing the weight machines.  Then I just lost all will to be at the gym.  All
I could think about was getting home to eat lunch.  So I came home and ate
