What Time Do You Guys Eat Dinner?01 Aug 2005 00:26 GMT25
On average, what time do you guys typically eat dinner? I notice that
when I eat dinner at around 6.30-7, I am famished come 10pm. I am
considering eating a later dinner (around 8pm?), but I don't
particularly enjoy having a full meal near bed time (well, not really,
Bone Mass?01 Aug 2005 00:05 GMT11
I'm a bit confused.  Just got some Tanita Innerscan scales and they have a
bone mass function.  The booklet that comes with it says for women, bone
mass estimates are:

Cholesterol in Cottage Cheese?31 Jul 2005 22:28 GMT6
I consume about a pound of cottage cheese a week --that works out to
able half a cup a day for the workday (I don't eat it on weekends). I
usually buy Trader Joe's brand of organic fat free cottage cheese,
since it tends to taste "milkier" than others I've tried. Today I just

Splurge day at the County Fair.  I love the fair, and I love fair food.
Nothing good for a person there, but very occasionally, this is acceptable
to me.  Talk about a sugar rush, though, wow. And, wisdom should tell a
smart 40 year old to DO THE RIDES and THEN eat bad foods! But ...
Weight Watchers "optional calories"31 Jul 2005 16:35 GMT2
My wife is a lifetime member of Weight Watchers, but it's been a few years
since she was on the program. She'd like to go back on it to take care of a
few pounds, but she really did much better on the old "exchanges" system
over the newer "points" system. She found it easier to ...
Scientists discover new weapon against obesity31 Jul 2005 14:03 GMT13
I read an article on health.dailynewscentral.com about a new medication
for obese people made from a digestive hormone in the small intestine
that cause one to feel full.  So, the medication works by convincing
your body that you feel full.  It's still in the early stages of
Pleasant Surprise31 Jul 2005 09:39 GMT3
Our family just got back from vacation and I was really dreading getting on
the scales when we got back.
I ate what ever the rest ate, but found myself automaticly cutting back on
portions because I got full sooner than  I used to do.  Never the less, I
Pedometer/Odometer - Saturday31 Jul 2005 06:28 GMT1
I know we don't usually do this on the weekends but I did two bike rides
today and wanted to count them.  I needed the extra exercise since I'll be
attending a family reunion tomorrow and won't have too much time for regular
exercise.
Pedometer/Odometer Challenge - Friday30 Jul 2005 15:09 GMT4
Post your goal/results here.
My goal for today was 25,000 steps including all of my activities.  I knew I
was golfing 18 holes which is normally good for at least 14,000 steps though
it can get to be more depending on how much searching for balls is required.
Food & Exercise -- 7/29/200530 Jul 2005 04:55 GMT1
A bit of an unusual day.  DH and I went to the gym fairly early in the
morning in order to go out for an early lunch afterward with Tom, our
ex-trainer and sort of surrogate son, who moved away last winter but
was in town on business.  For logistics reasons not worth explaining,
Veggie Burgers - protein or carbs?29 Jul 2005 23:56 GMT1
Volleyballchick had asked whether veggie burgers would count as a
protein or a carb, according to the plan I'm on with my dietician.
According to my guidelines, it counts as a protein if it has 7g-14g of
protein.  It counts as a carb if it has 15g-30g of carbs.
Question on Calorie count with Atkins29 Jul 2005 23:00 GMT10
I have breezed over the book to try to find out the calorie count I
should be on. I did a similar program a few years back and did rather
well, but I had a nutritionist's help. I don't have the luxury of that
anymore and I don't remember how mant grams of fat to how many grams of
More about my dietician/physician relationship29 Jul 2005 20:22 GMT12
Matthew (Aspiring Tortise) inquired about a couple of things and I
thought I'd elaborate for those who were interested.
First, the physician I am seeing is an Family Practice MD who
specializes in weight loss.  She has a dietician that works with her in

It's good to be back home after 11 days in New Jersey :-).  We
finished up about 11:30 today and I drove home -- got in around 4:45
or so (hit rush hour traffic once I got into the DC area).
